Roots II
Jan 06, 2021Everyday, we speak so many words. We don’t even keep track of all that we’ve said, though every single word is being recorded by noble scribes. God’s Angels write down what we say so that on the Day of reckoning, we will not argue about the account. They celebrate the good words we say.
God has called us to speak good words, words that remind others of the Truth. God says in the Sacred Letter to all of humanity:
Go forth and remind others of the Truth, keeping hope that the reminder you share with them will be of help to them!
Al-A’ala (The Most High) Chapter 87: Verse 9
Whoever has a living heart, whoever wishes to walk the Path of God, will always welcome the reminder.
And you, if you make an effort to remind others of the reality of this life and the Presence of the Divine, you will always gain benefit in such a reminder, as will the person who is willing to hear you out. For this reason, never despair of the fruits of such an action. Never lose hope in what can come of it, even when the outcome seems bleak and beyond your capacity to even imagine. Keep trying, no matter how hard it gets.
You must keep on, for it is your Creator Who has called on you to remind and invite people to good and to stay connected to that which uplifts them and allows them to be in touch with God. That’s a calling from Him, to a stance He wants to see you adopt. He tells us in the Holy Address to humanity:
Continue to remind one another, for reminders help those who are striving to place their complete trust in their Creator
Adh-Dhariyat (The Winds that Scatter) Chapter 51: Verse 55
What you must pay attention to, in reminding others of Truth, is the following key:
In heeding the call of God to take a stance of reminding others, start by getting into the right positioning. What position are you in? What’s going on with you, before you open your mouth to speak.
Where do you speak from? Consider the difference between taking an outward stance by speaking the word of truth, and being well-positioned — properly rooted internally. For, it is easy to speak words that sound good, but for them to actually be effective — on your own heart first and foremost — you must be authentic, true, and deeply rooted in the meaning of what you are saying.
Becoming conscious of your position at any point in this life, or any moment of the day, requires you to sincerely undertake the exercise of coming to know yourself. So ask yourself the following questions:
Where am I speaking from? Is it from my head? My mind? My ego? My emotions? Out of sentimentality? On a whim? From my heart? Or am I speaking from my actual soul?
Where your roots planted is where your words are coming from. So where do your roots lie? How deep do they go? Which dimension of your consciousness have they reached? Is it merely the most superficial and unconscious level? ot is it the rich soil of your soul’s landscape? What layer of your being are your roots in? Go check, and may God guide you to set down ever deeper roots, so that when you speak, it moves mountains.
